Generic Deltasone is intended to provide relief for inflamed areas of the organism. It reduces swelling, redness, itching and allergies. This medication is widely used as a part of the treatment for such diseases as extreme allergies or skin problems, arthritis, asthma and others.

About Prednisone

Prednisone is a corticosteroid. It is used in treatment of inflammation of joints, skin, lungs and other organs. Conditions that are commonly treated with this medicine include arthritis, asthma, and allergies. It is also taken for some other conditions, such as blood disorders and adrenal glands diseases.

Before taking this Prednisone you should tell your doctor about the conditions you have such as:

Cushing’s syndrome, diabetes, glaucoma, heart diseases, high blood pressure, different types of  infections, kidney disease, liver disease, mental disorders, myasthenia gravis, osteoporosis, seizures, stomach, ulcer or intestine diseases, thyroid problem, allergy to lactose, prednisone or other medications, certain kind of food, colouring compounds or preservatives,  if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, nursing

The use of the medication

This medication is used orally washing down with water. To avoid stomach disorder, take this medication with food or milk. If you are taking Prednisone once daily, it’s preferable to do in the morning. Avoid the overdose of the medication, take the amount that you are recommended to take. Don’t withdraw the medication suddenly as a severe reaction might occur. Your physician will recommend you the right dosage of the medication for you. If your physician wants you to stop taking the medication, the dose may be gradually reduced in order to avoid the possibility of side reactions.

Consult with your pediatrician regarding the use of Prednasone in children.

In case you’ve taken the overdose of the medication, contact a poison control center or first-aid center immediately.

Remember that this medication is intended only for you. Never share it with others.

If you miss a medication intake, take the dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next medication intake, consult with your doctor or medical provider. In this case you may need either to miss a dose or take an additional dose. Never take double or additional doses without the doctor’s recommendation.

Interactions with this mediction

Don’t use this medication with the mifepristone medication. This medication may interact with drugs such as aspirin and aspirin-like medications, and vaccines.

It’s recommended for you to give your doctor a list of all the medications, herbs, non-prescription medicines, or supplements you are taking.  You also need to tell if you smoke, consume alcohol, or take illegal drugs as these items might interact with this medication.

The things that should be under the control while using Prednisone

It’s recommended to visit your physician for regular checks of your condition. If you are using this medication over a lengthy period, always keep with you an identification card containing the information about you ( name and address) , your medicine (type and dosage), and your doctor (name and address).

This medication may increase the risk of catching an infection. Avoid the contact with people who are sick. Inform your physician or if you contact with anyone with measles or chickenpox.

In case you are going to have surgery, inform your physician that you have taken this medication within the year.

Consult with your doctor about the right nutrition for you. You might be advised to reduce the quantity of salt you consume.

This medication can increase the amount of sugar in blood. If you are suffering from diabetes, decide with your doctor if you need the adjustment of the dose of the diabetic medicine you are taking.

Side reactions

If any of these side reactions occur, inform your physician:

eye pain, decreased  hazy vision, or exophthalmus, fever, sneezing, sore throat, tissue and other sumptoms of infection, frequent urinating, increased thirst, depression, mood changes, pain in different parts of the body, swelling of feet or lower legs.

Among the side reactions that generally don’t require medical attention are the following: mental fog, excitement, restlessness, headache, vomiting, nausea,  acne, skin problems, gain in weight.

The storage of the medication

Keep out of the reach of children.  Prednisone should be stored at ambient temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C. Keep it way from light and keep container tightly closed. Unused medication should be thrown away after the date of use is expired.
